Thirteen stops, four mornings

This is the long version. Both boats run the same thirteen numbered stops across four days. The route starts and ends in the near islands and spends the middle days on the big names. Pickup is 10.00 at the hotel or the airport, with a welcome drink, and the boat starts sailing at 10.30.

Day 1 begins with a trek at Rangko Cave, with lunch. Burung Island follows, with free time and a snack. The day ends with the sunset at Kanawa Island, then dinner and free time.

  • Rangko Cave, stop 1. The first trek, shoes with grip.
  • Burung Island, stop 2. Free time and a snack.
  • Kanawa, stop 3. Sunset on a small island west of Rinca.

Kanawa is the sunset stop on this route, with dinner on board after.

The itinerary can change with the weather, and this is a private-charter route. The open trip is shorter, 3 days and 2 nights.

Times are operating patterns, not a timetable. Pickup is the only promise we make by the clock.

Day 2: Siaba, Manta Point, Taka Makassar and Komodo

Day 2 starts with snorkeling at Siaba Island and breakfast. Manta Point comes next, with free time and a snack. Taka Makassar follows, and the day ends with the trek at Komodo Island, then dinner and free time.

  • Siaba, stop 4. Morning snorkel, first mask of the day.
  • Manta Point, stop 5. Drift snorkel, mantas never promised.
  • Taka Makassar, stop 6. Sandbank, visible at low tide.
  • Komodo Island, stop 7. Ranger-led trail.

On this list the three water stops come before the trek. That suits a group that wants the snorkeling done before the walking starts.

Manta Point is a drift with a current, running mild to strong depending on the tide. Taka Makassar is a crescent sandbank, and the sand is visible only at low tide, so the tide table matters more than the clock here.

Where the boat spends each night depends on the weather and the captain's decision that day. That holds for night 1, night 2 and night 3.

Day 3: Padar, Long Beach, Strawberry Rock and Kalong

Day 3 opens at Padar Island with breakfast. Long Beach, also called Pink Beach, comes next, with lunch. A trek at Strawberry Rock follows, with free time and a snack. The day closes with sunset at Kalong Island.

  • Padar, stop 8. Ridge, three bays.
  • Long Beach, stop 9. Reef near the shore, tide matters.
  • Strawberry Rock, stop 10. A trek before the sunset run.
  • Kalong, stop 11. Sunset, bats at dusk.

Strawberry Rock is a trek between Long Beach and the Kalong sunset, with free time and a snack after.

Padar and Long Beach come back to back, as on the shorter routes. Padar is a loose, steep path. Long Beach is a tide-dependent reef. Keep dry shoes in the bag for the first and a rash guard handy for the second.

Day 4: Kelor, Manjarite and home

The last morning is a short one. A trek at Kelor Island comes first, with breakfast. Snorkeling at Manjarite follows, with an early lunch. The boat is due back in Labuan Bajo around 11.30, and guests reach the hotel or airport around 12.30.

Book the flight home for after 14:00. A late-afternoon flight is safer still, because the itinerary can change due to weather.

Day 4 echoes day 1 of the 2 days and 3 days routes. If you have read those pages, you already know Kelor and Manjarite. The difference is that you arrive with three days of salt on your skin and no sunset left to chase.

Pack the last morning the night before. Wet masks and towels are one thing. A wet passport is another.

What four days cost, and what stays outside

The whole boat for 1 to 10 guests is IDR 65,000,000 (≈ USD 3,988) on NK Jaya 1 and IDR 60,000,000 (≈ USD 3,681) on NK Jaya 2. Each added guest costs IDR 3,500,000 (≈ USD 215). Overnight, NK Jaya 1 holds 14 guests and NK Jaya 2 holds 12 to 13. The table below gives the sum per head at your group size.

Open-trip prices are per person, and the open trip runs 3 days and 2 nights rather than four.

The charter fare covers the cabin, chef and crew, meals, water, snack, coffee and tea, the tender, snorkeling equipment and life jackets. Park tickets are extra. A foreign visitor pays IDR 250,000 a day, so four days of park access mean four daily tickets.

A guide and photo or video coverage aren't included on a private charter. They're quoted separately when you ask. Flights, hotel nights, insurance, tips and personal spending are outside the fare as well.

Is Strawberry Rock a snorkel stop?

No, it's a trek, stop 10 on day 3, with free time and a snack after. The swims that day are at Long Beach, just before it. Shoes with grip and a bottle of water cover the walk, and the Kalong sunset follows the same evening.

When is the boat back on day 4?

Around 11.30 in Labuan Bajo, with guests at the hotel or airport around 12.30. It's the same return as the 3 days 2 nights route. Book your flight for after 14:00 and expect weather to move things.

Does the 4 days 3 nights route cost more than three days?
