Arrive a night early
Be in Labuan Bajo the night before. Charter pickups are at 05.00 for the one-day tour and 10.00 for the overnight routes, and a flight that lands the same morning cuts it fine. Miss the pickup and you miss the first stop.
The airport is 2 to 3 km from the harbor, about 10 minutes by car, and pickup is free from your hotel or the airport in a car or minibus shared by your group. A larger group can ask for a Toyota HiAce of up to 12 seats. Send us the hotel name or your flight number, and we confirm the pickup in writing.

Where you sleep decides how the morning starts. In the marina and town center, Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo is about 2 minutes from the harbor by car. Komodo Lodge and Pu'u Pau Hotel & Coffee Shop are about 5 minutes away. All three suit a traveler who wants a short ride to the boat and dinner in town.
Beside the airport, Crowne Plaza Labuan Bajo by IHG is about 10 minutes out, which works for a late landing. On Pede Beach, Sudamala Resort Komodo and Laprima Hotel Labuan Bajo are about 10 minutes away. The hills hold Loccal Collection Hotel, about 8 minutes down to the water.
Waecicu Beach is further: about 15 minutes to AYANA Komodo Resort, Waecicu Beach and about 20 to Plataran Komodo Resort & Spa. Those are resort nights, best as a treat before or after the boat.

Flights in, flights out
Komodo International Airport has the code LBJ. Most travelers connect through Bali (DPS), Jakarta (CGK) or Surabaya (SUB). Lombok is a smaller feeder. The flight takes about 1 hour 10 to 20 minutes from Bali, about 1 hour 30 minutes from Surabaya, 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours from Jakarta and about 1 hour from Lombok.
Airlines on these routes include Garuda Indonesia, Batik Air, Citilink and Indonesia AirAsia from Bali and Jakarta, Super Air Jet from Surabaya and Wings Air on the shorter island routes. Schedules change, so check before you pay. We'll help you plan the route, but we don't sell tickets.
Time the way home by the length of your route:
- One-day tour and 2 days 1 night: the boat is due back around 18.00 to 19.00, so fly the next day.
- 3 days 2 nights and 4 days 3 nights: the boat is due back around 11.30 and guests are at the hotel or airport around 12.30. Book the flight for after 14:00.
The itinerary can change with the weather. Leave slack on the last day.

Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo is the nearest on our list, about 200 meters and 2 minutes by car. Pu'u Pau Hotel & Coffee Shop is about 300 meters, and Komodo Lodge about 400 meters, both around 5 minutes by car. All three sit in the marina and town center.
Should I fly in on the morning my trip starts?
