Pink Beach snorkel: the reef at Long Beach on NK Jaya trips

Updated 20 October 2026

Pink Beach is a pale pink beach with reef close to shore, and a snorkel stop on NK Jaya 1 and NK Jaya 2. It's called Pink Beach on the one-day tour and Long Beach (Pink Beach) on the longer routes. It comes right after Padar on every itinerary. Tide and crowds change the experience.

Plan the Pink Beach stop See the 3 days route

Two names, one beach

It goes by two names. The one-day tour calls it Pink Beach. The 2 days, 3 days and 4 days routes call it Long Beach, with Pink Beach in brackets. Same stop.

The sand is pale pink, not bright pink. The tint comes from fragments of red coral mixed into the sand. How pink it looks depends on the light and the tide, so set your expectations for pastel.

It's a popular snorkeling beach. The reef starts close to the shore, so a first-time snorkeler can slip in off the beach rather than jump from the boat.

  • Pink Beach, after Padar on every route. Pale sand, reef near the shore, tide matters.

Photographs tell a different story from the beach. In the pictures the sand reads stronger than it looks in person, so look for a pastel and enjoy it.

Reef, tide and midday traffic

The reef is shallow to moderate in depth, with hard and soft coral near the surface and visibility of 15 to 25 m. Plan 45 to 90 minutes in the water. The current is mild to moderate.

The tide changes the swim. At high tide the reef opens up fully. At low tide the shallow parts are harder to swim over, so mind your knees on the way in.

Crowds are real. In high season the beach fills from 10:00 to 14:00, with tour boats stacking up between 11:00 and 13:00. A trip that lands earlier or later in the day meets fewer people. There's no fixed clock time for Pink Beach, so ask about your date.

Rinse off the sunscreen before you swim if you can. Reef-safe sunscreen is better. Pink Beach is a reef in a busy park, and every bit of care adds up.

Its place in each itinerary

The one-day tour: stop 2, after Padar, with free time and a snack. The 2 days 1 night route: day 2, stop 5. The 3 days 2 nights route: day 2, also stop 5. The 4 days 3 nights route: day 3, stop 9, with lunch.

On every route Padar comes just before it, and the Komodo Island trek comes after, except on the 4 days route where Strawberry Rock follows. That order puts the climb first and the swim second.

Snorkeling is covered by the park entry ticket. A foreign visitor pays IDR 250,000 a day. An Indonesian citizen pays IDR 50,000 on weekdays and IDR 75,000 at weekends and holidays.

There's no fixed arrival time.

What it is not: colour depends on light and tide: the sand is pale pink, not bright pink

Kit for the water

Pack for a stop of up to 90 minutes. A rash guard saves your back from the midday sun. Reef-safe sunscreen goes on before you leave the boat.

  • Rash guard or a light long-sleeved shirt.
  • Reef-safe sunscreen.
  • Sandals that you can wade in.
  • A waterproof pouch for your phone.
  • A dry towel in the tender.

Charters include snorkel gear. Pink Beach is also a place where a mask that fits beats any gadget. Test the seal on land: press it to your face, breathe in through the nose, and it should hold without the strap.

Rinse the sand off before you climb back aboard, and you keep the sundeck cleaner.

FAQ

Is Pink Beach really pink?

Pale pink. The tint comes from fragments of red coral in the sand, and how it looks depends on the light and the tide. In photos it can read stronger than on the beach. Look at it at the soft end of the day if you can.

Why is it also called Long Beach?

The 2 days, 3 days and 4 days itineraries call it Long Beach (Pink Beach), and the one-day tour calls it Pink Beach. They're the same stop. Long Beach describes the shape of the shore, and Pink Beach describes the sand.

When is Pink Beach least crowded?

Outside the midday window. In high season the beach fills from 10:00 to 14:00, and tour boats cluster between 11:00 and 13:00. There's no fixed arrival time, so we confirm the plan when you book. Mornings give calmer water and softer light.

How long do we snorkel at Pink Beach?

Plan on 45 to 90 minutes. It's listed as free time, not a fixed number of minutes. The reef begins close to shore, so you can float near the beach and go deeper when you feel ready.
